چکیده
* This work is supported by national sciences fund, No. 69635020 Abstract It is no doubt that our auditory system is a nonlinear processing system in speech signal perception. In this paper many aspects of nonlinear processing are discussed. First Nonlinear frequency resolution, that is nonlinear or nonuniform sampling theory in auditory system, second, nonlinear combination of different frequency components, such as two tone suppression and lateral inhibition. At last , we mainly focus on nonlinear intensity discrimination, which is important in forward masking effect, we give our model and experimental result.

Comparing auditory sustained attention in children with auditory processing disorder and normal children
Introduction: Auditory processing disorder (APD) is a type of abnormal perceptual processing of auditory information within the central auditory nervous system that could be influenced by cognitive factors, such as attention. Attention is one of most important cognitive functions in the development of learning in children, so it is important to recognize and evaluate a variety of attention defi...
متن کاملAuditory processing skills in brainstem level of autistic children: A Review Study
Aims: Autism is a pervasive developmental disorder. Deficit in sensory functions is one of the characteristics of people with autism, and usually these people show abnormality in processing and correct interpretation of auditory information. Also people with Autism show problems in communicating with others. This review article deals with the accurate understanding of Auditory processing skills...
متن کاملAuditory Lateralization Ability in Children with (Central) Auditory Processing Disorder
Objectives: The aim of the present study was to assess the auditory lateralization ability in children with (central) auditory processing disorder. Methods: Participants were divided in two groups: 15 children with Central Auditory Processing Disorder (8-10 years) and 80 normal children (8-11 years) from both genders with pure-tone air-conduction thresholds better than 20 dB HL bilaterally a...
متن کاملMode-locking neurodynamics predict human auditory brainstem responses to musical intervals.
The auditory nervous system is highly nonlinear. Some nonlinear responses arise through active processes in the cochlea, while others may arise in neural populations of the cochlear nucleus, inferior colliculus and higher auditory areas. In humans, auditory brainstem recordings reveal nonlinear population responses to combinations of pure tones, and to musical intervals composed of complex tone...
متن کاملSelective deficits in human audition: evidence from lesion studies
The human auditory cortex is the gateway to the most powerful and complex communication systems and yet relatively little is known about its functional organization as compared to the visual system. Several lines of evidence, predominantly from recent studies, indicate that sound recognition and sound localization are processed in two at least partially independent networks. Evidence from human...
